Introduction

"Teaching practice is an integral component of teacher training. It grants student teachers experience in the actual teaching and learning environment" (Kiggundu & Nayimuli, 2009).

According to the Tlokweng College of Education teaching practice handbook (2011), “the primary aim of teaching practice is to assist the student teacher to develop competencies, personal characteristics, understanding, knowledge and skills needed by a professional teacher. … It is meant to provide the student teacher with the opportunity to acquire skills and strategies or techniques to enhance his/her teaching competence.” (p.6).

Taking into account those quotes, it is possible to establish that in the teaching practice a student-teacher start their process as a professional where he/she is acquiring the ability to strengthen his/her experiences and knowledge. 

From this perspective, I am beginning to face this stage of my career, and it has been truly significant and exciting, as well as a hard process.  

In this sense, I was carrying out my teaching practice I at Jorge Eliécer Gaitán high school, sede Simón Bolívar in Florencia, Caquetá. This teaching process was developed with first graders who were around 36 students. They were between 5 and 7 years old. Furthermore, this grade was in charge of Amanda Orozco Gómez, an excellent teacher and human being.

Thus, this pedagogical portfolio compiles all the information about all the process of my teaching practice I. Therefore, you can find a short introduction related to what teaching practice means according to some authors. In addition, it is possible to find some of the most important aspects of my pedagogical autobiography. Besides, you can download all the different lesson plans carried out during the 12 weeks at the school, as well as the respective reflections regarding each class developed. Finally, at the end of this portfolio, the final written and oral report are available to check. Those reports consist of a short summary of the whole process and the different activities carried out during the practice.
